DRUKNROLL (for HeavyMusic.ru) 2025

«F…K-N-DRUK-N-ROCK-N-ROLL!!!»

И снова у нас в гостях уже знакомая вам группа Druknroll из Саратова, да не просто так, а с новостями. А теперь давайте беседовать.

1. – Tell us what’s new in your band during this time?
– The main news is that the coolest guitarists of our time took part in the recording of the album, who took on the most difficult part of the job – making solos and they did it great! Here are their glorious names: Igor Kazakov – solo (1, 2), Andrey Stepanov – solo (4), Grigory Melkumov – solo (5), Alexander Blinov – solo (6), Artem Rybintsev – solo (7) and I’m proud to have worked with these musicians!

2. – Let’s talk about your favorite brands of musical instruments. Which companies do you prefer and why?
– At first I had a couple of Ibanez guitars, but then I took a 1977 Gibson Les Paul – it’s just a masterpiece, on which I’ve been hammering metal for about 15 years!

3. – Is your band outside of politics or do you touch on the situation in the country in your lyrics?
–I never tire of repeating that our group has been apolitical since its foundation back in 2005!

4. There is an opinion that rock musicians dress only in black and gothic-gloomy. And how are things with colors when choosing clothes? Do you have favorites?

-Of course, we carefully select colors for clothes, but, unfortunately, our favorite color is only one – black, but maybe just a little dark, but this is not a fact, I wanted to say a fact!

5. – Can you list the most underground places in your city, where you can most often meet creative people? (Musicians, poets, artists, etc.)
–Yes, the main center of attraction for rock musicians in Saratov is the Machine Head club, the most cool concerts are always held there, there are a couple of other places like the Magic club, but this is for a small number of spectators, and so in our sports palace UDO even performed a couple of times in the early 2000s!

6. – What was the last concert you attended? (not counting your own)
–In Flames – the coolest concert at the Adrenaline stadium arena (now VK Stadium) in early 2020, emotions overflowing, a broken voice and a torn T-shirt! And then Covid hit…

7. – Is it possible to combine music and personal life? (Or will you have to choose: either devote yourself to your family, or a musical career with touring)?
–If you go on tour, then it’s all over, but my buddy Petr from the Skolot group is away from home for months at a time, he travels through dozens of cities, festivals there, and that’s great!

8. Have you ever played in the subway and underpasses? They say you can make good money doing that.
–No, even trains can get stuck in the subway if we play heavy metal there, if the walls are cracking up there, then that won’t work in the subway! I saw a devil in the Moscow metro who was playing a 6-string bass so hard that the hair on his back stood up. It seems to me that he could have assembled the Olympic Stadium, but he was in the metro…

9. – Can you name a couple of your favorite clubs where you feel more comfortable and enjoyable playing?

-We don’t have any concerts now, but we would have played at the Machine Head club in Saratov with great pleasure!

10. – As a child, could you imagine that you would become musicians? And what did you dream of becoming?
-Yes, I always wanted to become a musician, I went to a music school for piano and always played the guitar along the way! Although my father was not a musician, he collected a significant collection of instruments on which I played from morning till night, there were all kinds of guitars, a balalaika, a mandolin, a piano, a melaphone and of course a triangle, but why I chose a heavy guitar is not clear!

11. – If you were a door, where would it lead?

– Did you think I would answer to hell? No, to the Geolog-77 tourist center (my guitar is also from 1977), where I spent my hellish youth!

12. – Did you give autographs and did they ask to take a photo with you? Did you feel the spirit of glory?

– Of course! Once fans from France wrote to me and asked me to sign a photo, I immediately sent them a poster and a CD, and that’s when I immediately realized that I had become widely known in narrow circles!

13. – Are you a group of friends in real life, or are you only united by rehearsals and concerts?

– Of course we are friends and drink tea and coffee together, because we lead a healthy lifestyle, which we wish for you too!

14. – Tell us where you record? (studio, label, or at home)
–For about 15 years we recorded at the coolest Metalhearts studio, for the last 5 years we have been working at the equally cool LIVE LINE recording studio under the management of Oleg Kireichuk! He is an excellent musician, plays all the instruments and is the sound producer of DRUKNROLL! Previously, we collaborated with the Metal Scrap Records and Polygon labels, and now we are on the coolest (I never get tired of repeating this word) Dark East Productions label!

15. – Have you ever had moments when you want to completely abandon the band and music and live a normal life? And how did you cope with it?
–No, as long as I can remember, I wanted to play in a band and I did (I started doing metal back in school)! Well, DRUKNROLL appeared in adulthood!

16. – They say that almost all musicians have tattoos, piercings, certain rock clothes, and other attributes. Do you have it? And how do you feel about your image?
–A tunnel, a leather jacket and domes all over his back, yes, Ozzy Osbourne has it all))) Image is nothing, metal is everything!

17. – Do you follow modern music news (as freshmen call them), can you single out anyone? (style is not important).
– But this year I discovered for myself the powerful groups Scar Symmetry and Daath, although they have been hammering away for a long time, also great material in 2025 was released by Arch Enemy (Blood Dynasty) and Dream Theater (Parasomnia)!

18. – How do you usually relax and do you have any bad habits?
– Yes, there are bad habits, we are omnivores, we drink everything that burns, beer, vodka, wine, cognac and, of course, moonshine, but there is one small nuance – everything is non-alcoholic))) Yes, and I am also offended …

19. – What dish or drink can you compare your music to?
–With okroshka, only you need to season it not with kvass or even beer, but with strong moonshine, aaaah, just so delicious!

20. – Do you have any favorite quotes that you go through life with? What are they?
– F…K-N-DRUK-N-ROCK-N-ROLL!!!
