DRUKNROLL (для Rockcor#2) 2023

A Guide to Taming Dark Desires

The new album of this Saratov group is scary and progressive like Egyptian darkness, there are many mental deviations, psychiatry and brain horrors and, of course, to hear and feel all this, you need to listen to it, but if suddenly you have a desire to look a little further beyond the edge of mental dysphoria, at your service are the metal brainwashers themselves Dmitry Nazarenko, Denis Malyuga, Oleg Kireichuk and Druknroll, who will now take us on an excursion beyond the ordinary and acceptable.

– Hello, Druknroll! How did it happen that “My Dark Desires” turned out to be so mentally unstable and tied to mental pathologies?

Denis: It was enough to release the beast inside myself and everything happened by itself!

Dmitry: It’s hard to be mentally balanced these days. Every time I open social networks, I understand that everything is going to hell!

Oleg: I’ve almost become emotionally dependent on negativity. Sometimes, without even noticing, I watch the hourly news, where they tell me how bad everything is and I want to hear more and more of it.

– What inspired us?

Dmitry: Of course, what’s happening in the world. We tried to splash out everything that was going on inside. All the anger, resentment and despair.

Druknroll: Obvious lies, hatred, dark desires, black envy, no, no, these are not the names of the tracks on the album, it’s just a coincidence! Also tranquilizers, but here it is just the name of the track, no coincidence or inspiration. )))

– What should you do with dark desires: follow them, suppress them, eradicate them, ignore them?

Denis: Repaint them as socially acceptable, embody them in creativity, and also realize them with your dark like-minded people!

Oleg: You need to tame them. This is part of our essence and you need to strive so that all this does not prevail over you.

Druknroll: You just need to surrender to them and enjoy!

– Should “My Dark Desires” drive you crazy or, on the contrary, strengthen your mental health?

Denis: Our album does not owe anything to anyone. Everyone who has read it will understand for themselves how to direct this power that is hidden in it!

Dmitry: It does not owe anything to anyone (this is about mental health). We just wanted to show the darkest parts of our soul.

– Is there any special message for listeners on the album, any moral?

Denis: Don’t trust doctors, don’t take pills! Only DRUKNROLL! )))

Druknroll: And I believed the doctors and took the pill, but I got it wrong, I thought it was for my head, but it turned out (what did you think), no, for sadness! Yes, the recipe is simple, just DRUKNROLL three times a day before and after sleep and a triple dose at night! )))

– The classic said “God forbid I go crazy…”, do you agree with him?

Dmitry: Undoubtedly, this is what scares me the most!

Druknroll: Undoubtedly, this is what helps me the most!

– And in terms of technical perfection, inventiveness of solos and inventiveness of harmonies, is this your most outstanding album, what do you think? Did you set yourself the task of surpassing yourself?

Denis: Definitely yes! I consider it the most successful in all aspects! Oddly enough, but I did not experience any particular difficulties in composing solos. Perhaps the concept of the album resonated with my inner perception of the absolute of all possibilities.

Oleg: Definitely, each new album is a new step in our development.

Dmitry: I really liked the result. When I first heard the final mix, I thought: “Oh, how cool! As if it was recorded in Los Angeles!”

Druknroll: And when I heard the mix, my hair stood on end, or rather on my back!

– And what instrumental fragments from the album do you consider the most interesting?

Denis: I would like to hear the opinion of our listeners and your readers! I like the final solos in Welcome To Mars and Unnecessary Time. I am proud of them. The track Hate is my favorite.

Druknroll: And I was blown away by the solo in the track Sorrow, if the heavy guitars in it were made lighter, then, it seems to me, jazz players should cry with envy in this fragment and immediately take the button accordion and play along! No, rather an accordion!

– What was the hardest part of working on the album?

Denis: To resist recording another one. )

Druknroll: To enjoy it more than necessary, so to speak, to over-enjoy it!

– This time the vocal component of the album is more diverse than ever. How did it happen? And who are these strange voices?

Dmitry: The strange voices were recorded by me and distorted beyond recognition. This is how we wanted to introduce new characters into the narrative.

Druknroll: Voices from heaven…

– Where did this scary black toy come from that you play with in the video? Did you find it by chance, and that’s how the idea for the video came about?

Druknroll: The toy didn’t appear by chance, at first my dog was playing with it, excuse me, and then, suddenly, the idea to shoot this wild video came about! The script appeared in my head in a flash, everything was filmed in 2 hours! It’s strange, but I don’t have a dog…

– What was the most interesting and enjoyable thing about filming this video? It’s clear from your actions that you had a great time working on this video and it was as if there was some special doping…

Oleg: Of course there was no doping. We just wanted to make something cool. Everyone offered their own ideas in terms of the plot and the picture.

Druknroll: No, there was no doping, what are you saying, there were only candies from the banned film “The Adventures of the Yellow Suitcase”!

– What are your immediate plans?

Oleg: We are currently preparing a big surprise for our fans!

Druknroll: Yes, a new EP (just don’t tell anyone, you’ll ruin the surprise)!

– What are your final words and wishes to those who read us today?

Dmitry: Take care of what you have! It may not exist tomorrow!

Denis: I will be grateful to everyone who makes any contribution to spreading information about our group! Love and listen only to quality music!

Druknroll: Yes, especially pop, a piece of it is thrown in their ears!
