Tell us the story of how your band was formed (where, what year, how did you choose the name)
Andrey: It all started in 2006 in Saratov, when I realized that life was boring and decided to create a band to extract ideas from my inflamed brain into music! Then I invited cool guys – Uzhas, Jester, Cherep, Knip, and later Denis Malyuga, and then it all started spinning! I can only say one thing about the name DRUKNROLL – it’s heavy rock-n-roll in perverted forms!
– What style do you play? (It’s fashionable among musicians to say that we have no style, we play what you hear). How are you doing with this? Is there a specific style or is it a mix of several?
Andrey: Yes, we have a heavy mix of styles: thrash, death, heavy, black, speed, chaos, which can be united in one word modern, in short, Modern Talking rules!
– Is there someone in charge in your group or is there complete democracy?
Andrey: At first, I give everyone the material and then complete democracy begins – everyone works on it independently, as they say, as much as you have worked on, it’s all yours!
– What bands and musicians influenced your work? (Russian and foreign). And what do you
Denis: My style of performance was influenced by such guitarists as: Zakk Wylde, Reece Scruggs, Brandon Ellis. In music, I prefer high-quality non-commercial metal.
Andrey: Here is one of the brightest memories of childhood. In my youth I listened to Pepp, White Snake, Rainbow, but suddenly one devil brought a record and said: “When you listen to this, it’s like a huge lump of shit is rolling on you!” It was a record by the band Motorhead!
– Do you think it’s difficult for a musician to break into a major stage? And what is the reason for this?
Andrey: Talent will make its own way!
– Whose concert would you never go to?
Denis: I would never go to an Iron Maiden concert. I have my own views on this matter, but I won’t voice them, so as not to cause a wave of misunderstanding among readers:)
– How old were you when you wrote your first song and what was it about?
Andrey: Of course it was in childhood, I mainly played the keyboard, so the songs were, like all the songs of Children of Budun, about love!
– What are your plans for the year? How do you plan to develop?
Andrey: We are currently working on a new album, which we want to release at the beginning of 2020. We have been writing the material for almost two years, everyone has worked hard, so the album should be fiery and fun, like Paradise Lost!
– What are your favorite places in your city?
Andrey: I have one favorite place – the Machinehead club, where rock and metal lovers gather!
– Who would you like to sing a duet with?
Andrey: Of course, I would play, sing, and dance with Metallica!
– What three qualities should a real rock musician have?
Andrey: Perhaps, beer love, babbage, and pump!
– Do you have idols?
Andrey: Yes, Dio has always inspired me, it’s a pity that he is no longer with us!
– What else do you do besides music?
Andrey: Running and a little swinging are great things to tone up!
– Have you ever been saved by your six
th sense?
Andrey: Yes, when a stingray at sea suddenly turned into cattle and almost butted me in the fifth place!
– Do you take your creativity seriously? Or maybe it’s your hobby that has grown into a profession?
Andrey: Of course I do, because for me, playing music is a hobby, a profession, and life itself! Yes, Ilyich himself would envy such words!
– What advice would you give to young musicians?
Andrey: Quit drinking, smoking, swearing, you need to play rock, and if it doesn’t work out, play all year round!
– What time of year do you personally write songs best?
Denis: For me, it’s winter. There’s something magical about it. In her presence, nature falls asleep, life processes are suspended, and creativity and the desire to create wake up with redoubled force.
Andrey: Winter, snowdrifts, frosts, a den – a great time to freeze your brain!
– What can irritate you during a concert?
Andrey: Sober mugs!
