A band from Saratov with a bizarre and thunde
rous-rumbling name DRUKNROLL has been roaring and seething with its waterfalls on the metal scene for almost 10 years. And although their syncretic gourmet progressive melodic modern thrash/death metal at the moment has not yet received unconditional recognition among wide circles of metal lovers, but in modernity, timeliness, professionalism and armor-piercing ability it is clearly impossible to deny, and with their new album “In the Game” the Saratov experimenters led by the great and terrible Druknroll himself seem to be quite ready to make a long-awaited breakthrough and break the gates of the heavenly metal Olympus with their all-crushing fiery waterfall. Druknroll has always been famous for its sullen silence and cold laconicism. Rarely a journalist had the opportunity to hear at least a word about the plans and intentions of these great eclectics. But we managed to do it. So, listen up. The leader of the band, Druknroll himself, is on the line
– Druknroll combines a variety of styles and genres in their music, from symphonic metal to death metal, heavy metal, alternative and many others. How did your style develop and why did you decide to play such eclectic music?
– In fact, the style developed itself, without any complex thinking or questions: “What style are we going to play?” As a child, I graduated from music school in piano, so it would be stupid not to play symphonic. Are you tired of memorizing “Smoke on the Water” on the guitar? Do you want something new? – Here you go, modern, I accidentally remembered Accept – here you have heavy metal, and with the timbre of our vocalist “Uzhas” you can play death metal rather than anything else, and finally, our lead guitarist and special effects master Knip mixes in some electronics! As a result, you get such a hellish mixture, and if you remove any link from this chain, it will no longer be the same DRUKNROLL! rockcor 3 2016 02
– The new album “In the Game” on the one hand develops the unique style of Druknroll, and o
n the other – it sounds even more professional and modern. It feels like you have been going to this release for a long time in order to make the long-awaited BREAKTHROUGH with it. Is that so?
– Yes, we have been going to this release for ten years, and to the last one for eight! But seriously, we don’t really care about handwriting or style, we just put all our bold ideas out of our subconscious and turn them into quality musical material. And, of course, we want to make the long-awaited BREAKTHROUGH INTO THE BRIGHT ADD!
– What idea or message would you like to convey to listeners with your music?
– The idea is very simple – quit smoking, quit drinking, go return the bottles and buy a good guitar and jack it off until it’s holes! Stop writing on the fences – sit down and write cool lyrics! Put it all together – and you’ll find yourself in the magical world of metal!
– What can we expect from DRUKNROLL in the near future? What surprises have you saved for your fans for dessert?
– What can we expect from DRUKNROLL? – Of course, a new album! We’re already working in full swing on new material, which we want to make in English. Three songs are ready now. The plans are to release an EP of new material, and also to shoot a video for one of the new songs! Oh, and FUCK’N’DRUK’N’ROCK’N’ROLL!
