DRUKNROLL – Dead Phone
The cunning promotional campaign of the MANIC DEPRESSION group continues. The MEAT SOUND office is preparing to release the 11th part of the PRORIV collection and is already recruiting more test subjects for the twelfth part. I loaded the latest published part of the Compilation number 10 into the drive, or as it is fieryly emblazoned on the cover of this disc – “XThe first number on the collection is a track from … who do you think? Wow! Guessed on the first try – MANIC DEPRESSION. Well, what can I say … As always high-quality, as always the next changes in the line-up of the group – in general, this is already prose.
… The regulars for PRORIV – Saratov’s DRUKNROLL are not slowing down either. The guys give out another version of a mad chase for someone in a song about the “Dead Phone”. It is unclear why they chase after someone so relentlessly every time, but at least they do it very well.

In an era when even serious bands are thinking about whether to release a CD or not, the Proryv collection celebrates its 10th anniversary with its 10th release. Of course, the format has changed over the past 10 years, and Proryv has long been freely posted on social networks, but the physical component of the collection remains, and I want to believe that bands are still pleased to receive their work immortalized in plastic. The tenth release bursts into the ears and eyes of listeners like a fiery train, and this railway design runs through the entire printing of the publication.
…MD traditionally opens the collection with a new single, this time it is a song on the topic of the day Biohazard death. Druknroll and Bifurcation presented something more diverse and extreme. A bit aside – Russian-language black from the group Voroth and something progressive from Insidious One, musically the track was liked, but the vocals seemed very atypical – and indeed, the vocalist at the microphone is from South Korea.

…The stylistic vectors of the first release of Volga Metal Compilation have not gone anywhere, and before us again is music predominantly in the genres of core, modern and groove (no old school, brutalism, doom, mano-war, etc.), which is actually not so bad, since it immediately makes it clear what kind of music the collection is addressed to, but even if you are not a big fan of modern metal genres and gravitate towards something more traditional, you will also find something to profit from on the reviewed release, where, in addition to all other and other modern bands, there are also quite canonical-sounding Saratov female-fronted thrashers Furycracy, serious Samara thrash groovers Project Chaos and wonderful Saratov experimentalists from DRUKNROLL, to whom I have already sung the praises of more than once in my reviews.

DRUKNROLL – Hundred
Despite the fact that the CD format is increasingly shrinking its positions, young bands are still not averse to receiving their creations in the form of a tangible product, especially since the series of collections “Proryv” has been familiar to listeners for quite some time, and there is a certain probability that new listeners will note the unknown group for themselves. As a tribute to the times, the collection is now not only released on media, but is also posted for listening absolutely free of charge in the official public VKontakte. Traditionally, the disc opens with Manic Depression. This time – with a symphonic version of the composition “Sudba Atlantis” with guest vocals by Pavel Okunev (at the time of the release of the collection, not published anywhere). The thing is high-quality and original for a thrash metal band. Pavel’s vocals are quite well suited for the melodic chorus. The collection continues with songs “Hundred” by the group Druknroll. Druknroll have changed their sound more than once, and on the latest release they even switched to English. What is now presented to the listener can be described as Modern / MDM with elements of progressive metal. But with the next group, everything is much simpler: here is traditional Russian-language melodic metal with some elements of modern. Apparently, this track also anticipated the release of the Icehammer album “Citadel of Time”. In my opinion, the composition itself is probably not bad, but the quality of the recording and vocals should be improved before releasing the track on a full-length album. Poligon is a group that has recently released its first release, but the level of the group’s playing is quite high. By genre, this is classic heavy thrash, which should certainly appeal to fans of the current Black Obelisk. A memorable melodic chorus is present. By the way, this is not the first time the group has appeared on the compilations of the “Breakthrough” series. I first got acquainted with the track Steel Stars – “Rock” in the booklet of the collection, thinking that such primitive text should certainly be accompanied by a very “pioneering” musical accompaniment. But when I heard all this in the form of a song – I unexpectedly liked it. I liked the sound, I liked the vocals in the verses preceding the chorus. The chorus itself, of course, could have been made more intricate, but thanks for that.8 / 10

DRUKNROLL — The Loop of World Creation
Usciamo per un attimo dagli schemi e dalla monotonia delle recensioni “generiche” che vi proponiamo ogni giorno, per parlarvi di un disco più particolare. Un album che l’etichetta discografica “Metalscrap Records” ha voluto creare, in cui sono accorpate 17 brani di band Metal, facenti parte dell’esercito che compone l’underground odierno, provenienti da tutto il mondo, vale a dire Australia, Grecia, Nord Africa, Polonia, Russia, Ucraina e USA. Una compilation dal carattere accattivante, feroce e cruento, la quale non solo è un buon auspicio per le band a farsi conoscere e pubblicizzare la propria discografia, ma anche perché abbiamo trovata interessante l’idea di miscelare sotto-generi del Metal in un solo album e poter godere di ogni singolo brano, adattandone l’ascolto e, logicamente, l’aspetto critico!
Tutto questo è tenuto celato dal nome dell’album, intitolato “Witchery Flames Of Underground Lust”, nel quale siamo deliziati da un anti-pasto a base dell’energico Groove Metal con influenze decisamente Symphonic dei “Drukroll”, band che, con il loro brano “The Loop of World Creation” mettono benissimo in mostra la loro capacità nel fondere il groove grossolano alle delicate sonorità della tastiera, il tutto capitanato da un abile cantato in “falso cordale

…Druknroll – one of the most (if not THE most) promoted bands in Metal Scrap’s roster, Druknroll sounds damn experienced and not afraid to experiment; an original Modern Heavy Metal band that you should check out…

DRUKNROLL – Злоба (Rage)
And here I am holding the fifth collection of “Breakthrough” in my hands. It was released right before the New Year, and therefore, the cover of this disc is decorated with snowflakes, fir branches, and a Christmas tree – neatly inscribed in the Roman numeral five. Everything is in soft greenish-golden tones, the eye is calmed and you can calmly take the disc out into the light. This time, fifteen teams took part in the collection, about which we will tell the suffering listeners in order and slowly.
… Druknroll – shared their evil “Malice”. In principle, a very strong fighter at the junction of alternative, trash and a little grind. Easy to listen to, sounds decent – excellent advertising for their recently released disc “Boiling Point”…
Here the fifth part of “Breakthrough” has come to an end, having given us at least five gorgeous compositions and a dozen strong works, thirsting for their listener. With that I take my leave and go into the mode of waiting for the next numbers.

The collection “Proryv V” was released in 2014, at the very end of the year, which is clearly hinted at by the New Year’s cover. The duration of the disc is 67 minutes, almost “to the brim”. The disc features 15 groups, each of which has 1 page of the booklet, so the disc booklet is 16 pages long. The design is standard for collections: a photo of the group, a logo and lyrics on each page of the booklet. I will say right away that what surprised me about the design was the lack of track titles on the back insert of the disc (despite the fact that in previous collections of the series the titles were provided). Fortunately, all the information about the tracks can be read in the booklet. The situation with the missing titles reminded me of the collections of the 90s (for example, “Pokoleno”), which only indicated the names of the groups and later listeners guessed what songs were presented there. The New Year’s design of the disc is a bit dissonant with the crown of thorns made of barbed wire on the surface of the disc, and in addition to it – the list of bands on the disc is inverted relative to the track list.
…And lastly, I would like to tell you about a discovery that I made for myself – the group Druknroll. I have known the name of the group for a long time, but for some reason it always seemed that the guys play something very modern and the first acquaintance with their work did not leave a pleasant impression in my memory. But the track from this collection “Zloba” made me pleasantly surprised: there is both heavy heavy a la Black Obelisk, and alternative-modern inserts, and a high-quality recording …. In general, listen!
Today, summing up, I would not like to negatively note any performers, so I will say that the collection turned out to be very strong and diverse. For someone who is open to listening to metal of all genres, at least half of the collection should appeal to them, so give it a listen!
